We hold a number of functions a year with the emphasis on excellent dining and beautiful decor. Our functions have become recognised as some of the highlights of the KZN social calendar.

Bridge Drive 2011 will be held again this year at The Classic Room (formerly Stewards lounge) at Greyville Racecourse from 8.30 am.
Ticket Price: R225 per person (R900 per table of 4)
The format for this function will be:
Tea/Coffee at 8.30 am – 9.00 am
Bridge until 12.45 pm
Delicious Tea at 10.30 am
Prize-Giving at 12.45 pm
Cocktails & Light Lunch at 1.00 pm
There will be wonderful Bridge Prizes, Raffle and Lucky Ticket prizes, and also sales tables from three of the 31 Club’s charities displaying their particular handiwork.
Use this function as your year-end party with your Bridge friends, and at the same time help the Committee raise another substantial amount of money for the Club’s charity fund.

The 31 Club is entering its 50th year, which is a major milestone in our history. We are extremely proud of our achievement and are planning a grand celebration at this year’s July Ball, which is to be held on Wednesday 29th June, just prior to the Vodacom July Handicap.
This is going to be a fabulous ‘Black Tie’ occasion for around 300 guests and is going to be held at the Elangeni Hotel, Durban. We have well known Chef, Shaun Munro catering for the event, and live band ‘Afritude’ playing away the evening. A highlight of the evening is always the auctioning of the Vodacom July Horses by Graeme Hawkins, with proceeds going to our 31 Club Charities.
Being a special celebratory year, we are encouraging past 31 Club Chairladies to please put together a table of your own. We would truly value your support on this occasion.

The 31 Club hosted its 50th celebration July Ball at the Elangeni Hotel on Wednesday 29 June. A wonderful evening of dining and dancing was enjoyed by our guests. Our signature horse auction during which Graeme Hawkins of Gold Circle auctioned off the July runners helped to raise funds for the evening totalling over R 150 000. The amount raised is going to be invaluable to our supported Charities in the coming year. We would like to thank all our guests, donors and sponsors for contributing to such a successful fund raising event.
Our raffle ticket main prize winner of a 3 night stay at Mala Mala with flights by Federal Air was Daphne la Reservee.
Second prize in the raffle of a Raymond Weil Mens Watch donated by Beverley Jewellers was won by Pam Wright

31 Club is holding a luncheon with Chris Black of Aubergine in Hillcrest, during May, with Chris donating all the takings to our Charities. We think this is hugely generous of him!
This luncheon which is a 4 course meal with ‘fine wines’ included, is perfect for a family get-together, a birthday group, book club, wine club etc.

July Ball 2010

A wonderful and successful evening was enjoyed by around 200 beautifully dressed guests.
The reception area was filled with flowers, candelabra's and crystal. Set on a black-and-white checkered floor, the room was decorated with beautiful pictures of 'Old Durban' and guests were welcomed with chilled champagne, accompanied by the sounds of a string quartet.
In keeping with the theme 'Old Durban', the dining room was elegantly decorated and the five course meal, by all accounts, was 'delicious'. Graeme Hawkins was in top form auctioning off a strong field for the Vodacom July. Bidding was a lot of fun and laughter for some and a bit more serious for others and we would like to say a big thank you for the amazing generosity and the wonderful spirit in which it was done.

Charity Tea 2010

A wonderful morning was enjoyed with around 250 ladies attending a Charity Tea Party in a gorgeous garden setting. There were tables laden with fresh roses and delicious eats and tea was accompanied by some wonderful live background music. Noelene Kotschan from The Pink Drive spoke briefly on breast cancer and we managed to collect over 300 bras to donate towards their attempt to break the Guiness World Record.
Many thanks go to Hullets, Fancy Pack, Old Highway Liquors, Richdens Spar, Chateau Gateaux, The Pink Drive, KWV, Kanebo, Bean Struk and Kloof Junior Primary for generous donations. Also Monica van Heerden for the beautiful roses and Chris Jensen for playing the saxaphone and background music.
